This week's Hollywood Reporter names one of its own as the shirt worn by "...the industry's best-dressed men on screen and off..." Anto , A family run custom shirtmaker in the heart of Beverly Hills, has provided shirts to the Rat Pack and dressing big budget blockbusters for more than half a century. The shop's vault has over 9500 measurements of such Hollywood notables as Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Apparently Mr. Martin's cuff style is still requested and it measures at 3 1/4 inches wide and always white.
In a side bar to the article, style guru Glenn O'Brien lists his choices of the 5 best shirt-makers ever:
1. Ascot Chang
I find it interesting that Mr. O'Brien stayed off of Jermyn Street. I would have included Turnbull & Asser on that list as well as Hilditch & Key. Brooks Brothers deserves a spot too, just for good form.
